This never fails to amaze me (although it shouldn't at this point). You studied with this person. If she really believes she has the truth now, she should feel a debt of gratitude to you for saving her from destruction. Unless she's angry at you for indoctrinating her in the first place.

Shunned at Walmart
by Grammy inthe greeter was a woman i once called friend and who (unfortunately now) was baptized after studying with me for a year.
when i walked in i was the only one coming through the door so it's not like she didn't see me, she turned away and ignored me...not wanting to lower myself to her level i simply got a shopping cart and went about my shopping, my first instinct was to report her to management for dereliction of duty but i thought better of that because my doing so would show her it upset me.
i really owe her a debt of gratitude because it was at her baptismal talk that my first strong doubt that it was the truth finally penetrated my foggy brain, as i sat and repeated the baptismal questions to myself at the assembly when she was being baptized i realized they were not the same ones i answered in 1974, that started me on my journey out of the org.

by mrsjones5 inyesterday and today my town is putting on a festival, "freedom festival" is what it's called.
always on the third weekend in june.
it's a big todo with food, games, craft booths, dog frisbee contest, music.

An Elder Just Knocked on My Door

it's probably because i told my ex last week that i will personally sue the individual elders if they meet with my daughter again to counsel her without my parental consent.
we have joint custody and that means they need joint parental consent to counsel a minor.. i am filing for sole custody of our 12 year old daughter and will be serving him with the legal paperwork next week.

If you want to get sole custody, the best route is just to give the family judge a copy of the School brochure to let them know what a child of a JW has to go through.

Bringing Children Into This World
by Mysterious insince leaving the jws how has your opinion of "bringing children into this world" changed?.
it floored me the other day to hear a 19 year old non-jw say she didn't want to bring kids into the world because of the state it was in.
it struck me as a very jw thing to say, or at least something i would not expect from a young person..

I have no problem with people choosing not to have children if it's for the right reasons, not because they've been deceived into believing it's an unloving thing, that the world is so horrible. I have two older sisters and an older brother, all of whom have chosen not to have kids until the new system comes. It makes me sad, because they all like kids, and I know they would have chosen to have them if they weren't so brainwashed.

For me it was the idea that people's salvation depended on how they responded when JW's knocked on their door, usually at inopportune times. I couldn't help but wonder, if I hadn't been fortunate enough to be born into it, how I would've responded. Most people we called on were conditioned to believe we were weirdos. That's probably what I would've thought as well. I couldn't believe God would destroy all those people just for not accepting what we were telling them.

They haven't corrected it because they don't feel the need to. They're able to convince most witnesses that Thomas was using an exclamation of surprise, he wasn't really referring to Jesus as his God. I know this because that was the answer I got when I brought it up to an elder during a shepherding call.
